What is Kansas Health Online?

Kansas Health Online is a new website focusing on health transparency for consumers created collaboratively by the Kansas Health Policy Authority (KHPA), the State Library of Kansas, and the Dykes Library at the KU Medical Center. It is designed to empower Kansans to make more informed decisions by providing them with information on health and health care in an easy to use, convenient website as part of the 21-point health reform package being advanced by KHPA.

This website offers tools, links, and information to compare hospitals, find doctors, compare health plans, analyze symptoms, get latest information on medical conditions, make healthy lifestyle choices and learn more about health policy. Medical librarians are involved in the content selection and development to ensure reliability and relevance to Kansas consumers.

Visitors to the site can also chat in real time with a medical librarian to get answers to health-related questions. More information will be added in the coming weeks and months, including information on health care costs and on local health resources such as hospitals, clinics, associations, and support groups.
